Alexander Technique
"a powerful tool for personal
and professional growth"
The Balance Resting State
The Balance Resting State is one of the procedures used by the Alexander Technique to restore well-being and allow a person to come back to a neutral state of non-reaction or a chosen reaction. For that the pupil will allow herself to stay 15 to 20 minutes in the semi-supine position as showed on the picture without attempting to move or achieve anything in particular.
Performers and The Alexander Technique
When we were children, we used to move and act in a natural way, with a maximum equilibrium and with the minimal effort. However, when we grow up, we tend to accumulate tension and habits that interfere with our good use. Those habits are not obvious until we develop symptoms such as back pain or severe anxiety.
Alexander in the Workplace
Common ‘misuse’ habits, such as slumping at your desk, raising your shoulder when on the telephone, or gripping your computer mouse, can be the source of the problem. The Technique teaches you to address these habits and release tension, improve posture and promote body awareness.
The Technique can help you avoid strain and injury, whatever your occupation, be it heavy manual work or healthcare; office work or spending hours standing.
